Aghios Nikolaos Marina sits in the eastern Cretan town of Aghios Nikolaos, with 50 superyacht berths in the natural harbour beneath the small Voulismeni lake (a freshwater-saltwater lake connected to the sea, in the centre of the town). The eastern Cretan pantry is built on the Sitia AOC wine zone immediately east. Sitia AOC reds (Liatiko, Mandilaria) and whites (Vilana, Thrapsathiri) — the eastern Cretan appellations produce distinctive concentrated wines from old vineyards.
