Chania Old Port sits in the Venetian harbour of Chania in western Crete, with 40 superyacht berths in the natural basin beneath the 16th-century Egyptian lighthouse and the Venetian arsenals. Chania is the most preserved Venetian city of the eastern Mediterranean, with the old town's Venetian-Ottoman architecture intact, and the western Cretan yachting hub — gateway to Crete's most dramatic landscapes (the Samaria Gorge, the pink-sand beach of Elafonissi, the Akrotiri peninsula).
The western Cretan pantry is distinctive within the Cretan tradition. Olive oil from the Apokoronas hills and the Akrotiri peninsula — western Crete's olive oil has a more delicate profile than the heavier eastern Cretan oils. Wines: Romeiko reds (the indigenous variety of western Crete, found mainly in the Chania province), Vidiano whites, plus the broader Cretan PDO portfolio. Cretan specialties: dakos, antikristo, kalitsounia, sfakianopita (a thin pastry filled with mizithra cheese and honey, a Chania specialty). Wild greens (horta) — the Lefka Ori (White Mountains) above Chania produce some of Crete's deepest horta traditions. Fresh fish from local Chania boats and the Chania auction. Specialty providers handle full Cretan-grade catering.
Yachting season runs April through October with year-round shoulder support. Chania suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to yachts anchored off Akrotiri, Souda Bay (NATO base, restricted access in parts) and the Theodorou islets.
