Port of Gaios sits in the small natural harbour of Paxos, the smallest of the principal Ionian islands, with 30 superyacht berths in the village port protected by the small offshore islands of Agios Nikolaos and Panagia. Paxos is the chic, small-scale alternative to Corfu in the northern Ionian — the entire island has fewer than 2,500 permanent residents, the village atmosphere is intact, and the surrounding waters (with Antipaxos immediately south) offer some of the clearest in the Mediterranean. The Paxos pantry is small-scale and Ionian. Paxos olive oil — the island produces one of Greece's most highly regarded olive oils from old groves that cover most of the island's interior. Wine sourcing pulls from Corfu (Kakotrygis) and Cephalonia (Robola) since Paxos has minimal own production. Greek pantry: Feta PDO, the Greek cheese repertoire, Greek wines. Fresh fish from local Paxos boats and the surrounding clear waters (the south-coast caves and the Antipaxos bays produce particularly good catch). Paxos is also locally known for its salt — extracted historically from the south-coast rocks. Specialty providers in Gaios handle catering for the small-scale luxury hotel and villa economy (Hotel Paxos Club, several premium villas). Yachting season runs late May through September with sharp Italian-fleet peaks in August. Gaios suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to yachts anchored off Antipaxos (Voutoumi, Vrika beaches) and the smaller Paxos bays.
