Camden Yacht Club sits in Camden Harbor on the central Maine coast, with 50 superyacht berths in the iconic Penobscot Bay yachting destination. Camden is the principal Maine yachting harbour — the historic Maine Windjammer Association schooner fleet operates from here (the iconic traditional schooner cruises, since 1936), the dramatic Camden Hills rise immediately behind the town, and the marina serves the Penobscot Bay and Mount Desert Island cruising grounds (one of the most distinctive North Atlantic yachting regions).
The Maine pantry is unique in the United States. Maine lobster at source — Penobscot Bay is one of the principal Maine lobster zones, with the iconic traditional lobster economy (the Maine Lobsterman's Association regulates one of the most sustainably-managed wild fisheries in the world). Sea scallops, oysters, mussels, soft-shell clams (steamers), Maine wild blueberries, Maine maple syrup (the eastern US maple sugaring tradition), Maine smoked salmon, Maine sea urchin (the uni harvested from Maine waters for export to Japan). Whoopie pie, blueberry pie. Northern Atlantic groundfish (cod, haddock). Vermont artisan cheddar. Specialty providers handle the working Maine coast economy alongside the seasonal yacht traffic.
Yachting season runs June through September (the Maine summer is short and intense). Camden suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to Penobscot Bay and Mount Desert Island anchorages (the principal Maine cruising grounds).
