Port de Cavalaire-sur-Mer is one of the largest marinas of the Côte d'Azur, with 40 superyacht berths in the wide modern basin on the eastern Côte des Maures, ten kilometres south of Saint-Tropez. The town is markedly less polished than its Tropezienne neighbour, with a broader family-resort character and direct access to the Pampelonne anchorage immediately north.
The pantry is Provençal. Côtes de Provence rosé from the surrounding hills (the La Croix-Valmer and Cavalaire appellation zone produces some of the most highly-regarded rosés of the appellation), Bandol AOC reds, AOP Var olive oils from the inland Maures villages. Provençal specialties: tapenade, anchoïade, daube, ratatouille. Saint-Tropez Place des Lices market (15 minutes), Saint-Laurent-du-Var auction fish. Maures chestnuts, wild boar, mountain honey. Specialty providers in Cavalaire serve the active charter-base economy that uses the port for Pampelonne and Levant island access.
Yachting season runs May through September with sharp peaks late July and August. Cavalaire suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to Pampelonne and the Levant island anchorages.
