Port de Cros-de-Cagnes is the small traditional fishing port of Cagnes-sur-Mer, between Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Antibes, with 35 superyacht berths in a working harbour that has been a Mediterranean fishing community since the 13th century. The Cros-de-Cagnes fishermen still practice the lamparo (night fishing with lights for anchovies and sardines) — one of the few places on the Riviera where this traditional method survives.
The pantry is Niçois with the fishing-village specifics. Daily catch from the Cagnes boats: anchois, sardines (the area is known regionally for both), loup de mer, daurade, rouget, octopus. AOP Nice olive oil from the Var hinterland behind Cagnes (the Carros and Saint-Jeannet villages have small mills). Bellet AOC wines from the hills above Nice (a few kilometres east). Niçois specialties: socca, pissaladière, stockfish, salade niçoise, daube niçoise. Specialty preparations of preserved anchovies (anchois de Collioure-style by Cagnes processors) and salted sardines. Saint-Laurent-du-Var auction (5 minutes east) supplements the local catch.
Yachting season runs April through October. Cagnes suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning. The port is markedly small-scale — best as a specialty fishing stop alongside fuller provisioning runs in Nice or Antibes.
