Port de Hyères sits on the western Côte des Maures, with 55 superyacht berths in the principal marina serving the Iles d'Or (Porquerolles, Port-Cros, Île du Levant) and the Hyères peninsula. Hyères is the oldest resort of the Côte d'Azur — Queen Victoria spent winters here in the 19th century, before Cannes and Nice rose — and remains the principal Var-coast yachting hub for charters working between Marseille and Saint-Tropez.
The pantry is Provençal. Côtes de Provence rosé from the Hyères appellation zone (the surrounding hills produce some of the appellation's deepest pinks), Bandol AOC reds from the Mourvèdre vineyards 30 km west, AOP Var olive oils. Hyères-specific: figs from the Hyères plain (a longstanding Provençal speciality), salt from the Salins des Pesquiers. Provençal specialties: tapenade, anchoïade, daube provençale, ratatouille, soupe au pistou, pieds et paquets. Fresh fish from the Hyères auction and local boats. Iles d'Or honey from Porquerolles producers. Specialty providers in Hyères stage most Iles d'Or provisioning given the national-park status of the islands.
Yachting season runs April through October with peaks late July and August. Hyères airport (Toulon-Hyères) is 10 minutes by road, making the port practical for charter starts. Suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning.
