Marina Grande is the principal port of Capri — the only point where supplies, day-trippers and yacht crews all meet. Tucked beneath the cliffs on the island's north shore, with 70 superyacht berths and a steady tender shuttle to anchorages off the Faraglioni, Marina Piccola and the Blue Grotto, it is the operational entry point for one of the most concentrated stretches of yachting on the Mediterranean.
The Capri food culture sits at the intersection of Campania and the island's own isolation. Buffalo mozzarella from the plains of Caserta and the Cilento, San Marzano tomatoes from the Vesuvius volcanic soil, Caprese tomatoes from terraced gardens above Anacapri, scialatielli and paccheri from the pasta workshops of Gragnano, Cetara colatura di alici (anchovy extract), and Limoncello di Capri — IGP-protected and made on the island from sfusato lemons. Wine production on the island itself is modest but exceptional: Capri DOC whites from Falanghina and Greco, made in tiny quantities. Most yacht provisioning suppliers source widely from the Campania mainland (Sorrento, Naples markets, Salerno) and run ferry shuttles daily.
The yachting season runs May through October, with peak demand from late June to early September. Logistics are constrained by ferry timing and the steep, narrow access from the port; experienced suppliers plan in 24 to 48 hour cycles for full provisioning and same-day for fresh basics. Tender deliveries to anchorages around Capri and Ischia are standard.
