Marina di Siracusa sits on the historic island of Ortigia, the UNESCO-listed old town of Syracuse, with 60 superyacht berths in the natural Porto Grande beneath the cathedral and the Baroque palazzi. Founded by Greek colonists in 734 BC, Siracusa was once the largest city of the Greek world — bigger than Athens — and remains one of the most concentrated archaeological and culinary destinations of Sicily.
The Siracusano pantry sits at the heart of south-east Sicily. Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG — Sicily's only DOCG wine, produced 30 km west from Frappato and Nero d'Avola. Nero d'Avola, the island's flagship red, takes its name from the town of Avola 25 km south. Pomodoro di Pachino IGP from the Pachino plain south of Siracusa — Italy's most famous cherry tomato. Mandorla di Avola almonds. Limone di Siracusa IGP. Olive oil from the Iblei DOP zone. Sicilian specialties with Siracusan accents: pasta con i ricci (with sea urchin), pasta alla siracusana (with anchovies and capers), cassatelle siracusane. Fresh fish from the Siracusa daily fish market and the Capo Murro di Porco fishermen. The Ortigia food and wine scene is unusually dense for the city's size.
Yachting season runs April through October with peaks in summer. Siracusa suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to anchorages off Capo Murro di Porco and the Marzamemi coast south.
