Marina Punta Faro sits at the southern tip of the Lignano peninsula in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with 600 berths in the modern marina at the entrance to the Marano lagoon. Lignano Sabbiadoro is the principal Friulian Adriatic resort — the iconic 8-kilometre golden beach and the deep restaurant-and-resort economy were developed from the 1950s, with Ernest Hemingway famously describing Lignano as the "Florida of the Adriatic" in 1954. The marina is the natural Friulian-Adriatic charter base, between the Veneto coast west and the Trieste-Slovenian border east.
